TEIL 3: We love Sri Lanka - Kumaio™ Selecto

PART 3: We love Sri Lanka

Day 5 – Visit cooperation company coconut

Today we visit a cooperation company of our partner. This company has specialized in the entire value chain of coconut production for several decades. It is extremely exciting for us to see how many different products can come from a single fruit and everything (!) is used. Nothing (!) is thrown away. Here is a selection to give you an impression of the variety of coconut products: grated coconut, coconut milk, coconut vinegar, coconut oil, coconut butter, coconut flour, coconut flakes, coconut chips, coconut condensed milk, etc. What an exciting tour and insights into the old one Tradition of coconut value creation. Now we have come full circle: A country with so many coconut palms has to specialize in the various coconut products. And as a result, we in Europe can also enjoy these exotic and delicious products.

We have to process our impressions first. And where better to do that than in a home garden with lots of coconut palms around us? We drive to our partner's home garden, where he prepares us an excellent picnic with curry from the cauldron. We can't imagine a better lunch break!

In the afternoon we make our way back to Colombo and end the evening here with good conversation and cool drinks.

Day 6 – IPD Hub Opening Ceremony in Sri Lanka & Participation in Panel Discussion

We met our partner in Sri Lanka two years ago at a trade fair. To be more precise, on the IPD (Import Promotion Desk) stand. And IPD officially opens a new office in Sri Lanka today with a festive and traditional ceremony. In this context we were invited to take part in a panel discussion to represent the European importers. What a great honor for us! We are all the more pleased that the discussion was able to offer the audience (including some new local exporters and family businesses) great added value and incentives, as we found out afterwards at Drinks & Buffet.

The ceremony starts with traditional drummers & dancers (Kandy dancers), then candles are lit by the German Ambassador and the Sinhala Trade Minister. This is followed by warm words and inspiring speeches from the IPD and the Federal Association for Wholesale and Foreign Trade. After the panel discussion, we network and we have the opportunity to meet great people with unique products and stories. A very successful ceremony!

Day 7 – Coast & Beach

Now it's time to get to know the country, the people and the culture on the coast for a few days. And we can tell you one thing: We won't be disappointed here either - on the contrary: wonderful landscapes, warm water, friendly people & excellent food!

…. And now our work starts: Because of course we want to give everything so that we can bring these great aromas, tastes and products closer to you.

Stay tuned! New products to follow soon!
