Vegetarian Back-Visch with Banana Blossoms Recipe

Are you also a fan of fried snacks?

In our opinion, they are even cooler when they are plant-based . With the fried banana blossoms, we take the otherwise classic dish " fish and chips " to the next level. Try it yourself!

FOR APPROX. 4-5 PEOPLE YOU NEED:

  • 2 cans of Kumaio™ Selecto banana blossoms (one can contains approx. 5-6 pieces)
  • 4 eggs
  • Flour
  • Breadcrumbs (traditional and Panko breadcrumbs are ideal for the structure)
  • Sunflower oil (approx. 1 liter)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
HOW TO DO IT:
Whisk the eggs with salt and pepper in a bowl. Fill two other bowls with flour and breadcrumbs.

Tip: For a particularly delicious breading, you can mix regular breadcrumbs with Panko breadcrumbs!
Squeeze the banana blossoms lightly and coat each one as follows: first in flour, then in the egg mixture and then in the breadcrumbs. Heat the oil to around 180 degrees and fry the nuggets one by one until they are golden brown.

SERVING SUGGESTTION:
Potato wedges and salad go perfectly with the fried nuggets! A delicious dip is also a must. A curry dip or aioli is ideal here.

Veganize the recipe:
The recipe can easily be converted into a vegan recipe by omitting the egg and mixing the flour with water or a plant-based drink (such as oat milk).
